Implant Dentures in Lawrence, KS

Are you frustrated or tired of your traditional removable dentures? While they’re certainly better than having no teeth, many patients find their dentures irritating and uncomfortable after a while. If this sounds familiar, we invite you to come visit us here at Heck Family Dentistry of Lawrence to regain the strong, stable smile you deserve. State-of-the-art implant dentures in Lawrence don’t rest on top of your gums and are instead anchored in place just like real teeth. The end result is virtually indistinguishable from a completely natural smile! To see if implant dentures are right for you, give us a call to schedule your consultation.

What Are Implant Dentures?

Like traditional dentures, implant dentures consist of a gum-colored base that’s carefully designed to fit closely on top of your gums. Within this base is set an entire arch’s worth of beautiful, incredibly natural-looking replacement teeth. This denture is then secured onto four to eight dental implants, which are small metal posts that have been inserted into the jawbone for a strong, reliable foundation. Depending on your unique circumstances, we will recommend one of the following:

Fixed/Permanent Implant Dentures

Fixed implant dentures will stay in your mouth 24 hours a day, seven days a week. When you come visit us for your routine checkups, we’ll remove your denture to clean it and thoroughly inspect it.

Removable Implant Dentures

Alternatively, you can have a removable implant denture that can snap on and off of your dental implants. This allows you to take your removable implant denture out for cleanings and other maintenance.

The Implant Denture Procedure

If you’re interested in implant dentures, we encourage you to come see us for a consultation, where we’ll discuss your tooth replacement goals and see if you’re a good candidate. If needed, we’ll help you schedule preliminary procedures like gum disease treatment or a bone graft to get you ready for your new smile. Then, you’ll return to our office to have your dental implants surgically placed into your jawbone. Over the next three to six months, the implants will fuse to the bone tissue in a process called osseointegration. Finally, we’ll call you back to our office to have your brand-new denture anchored in place.
